The Navy League of Canada is a community-based, volunteer-led organization dedicated to developing the resourcefulness, vitality and leadership of young Canadians through an appreciation of our great naval traditions
The Ottawa Branch, as a member of the Navy League of Canada, is a partner with the Department of National Defence in sponsoring Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps FALKLAND. The Branch is solely responsible for the sponsorship of Navy League Cadet Corps VICE ADMIRAL KINGSMILL
The Branch remains quite busy. There are always number of governance and reporting requirements to be met in providing and sustaining quality cadet programs for the youth in our community. And with a larger Board of Directors this year, we are trying new exciting initiatives at home here in Ottawa and working more than ever in support of our National and Provincial levels.
Our two corps have commenced their training programs! Albeit in innovative (mostly virtual) ways to begin with until in-person activities are safe to pursue. For more detail and news on the progress of the training year please visit their respective websites under "Cadet Corps" or "Links".
In order to keep our cadets and their families safe, and contribute to to a healthy community, we have not conducted our traditional fundraising "TAG DAY' activities this year. Only three are done every year, but they amount to over 1/2 of the revenues needed to deliver our programs. And while our reserves have served us well, and our expenses are significantly reduced (at the moment), it appears unlikely we will be able to return to that approach and must find a new way of fundraising. Until then, we will be counting on the continuing good support of our community, where they still can, in the form of online donations.
Donations and Memberships can now be arranged online through a national service provider, "Micharity", arranged by the NLC Ontario Division. It is a convenient means to make a make a contribution directly to the Ottawa Branch in support of RCSCC FALKLAND and NLCC VADM KINGSMILL. Membership is only $10 (further information on it is available on our members page). Donations are always graciously received as well! Simply select desired contribution choice from the options available on the "Allocations List". A tax receipt for charitable purposes will be emailed to you automatically.
