Navy League of Canada 125th Anniversary Time Capsule
2020 marks the 125th anniversary of the Navy League of Canada, and to commemorate the occasion, the Ottawa Branch is asking for contributions to a time capsule to be sealed for the next 50 years during a media event to be held on Dec. 5. Contributions to the time capsule should be small enough to fit in a one-foot (cubed) box and should hold historical significance in order to be considered for inclusion. Examples can be items such as cap tallies, letters written from the perspective of today's cadets addressed to those in the 2070, photos, or challenge coins. Be creative, and think about what items would pique the curiosity of people in the future, and what best represents the Navy League of Canada in our 125th anniversary year.
Contributions to the 125th Anniversary Time Capsule (with the accompanying item inventory form) can be dropped off until the end of November at:
- The front office at the Navy League of Canada's National Office (care of Jamie Clute) on any Thursday between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at:
The Navy League of Canada|La Ligue Navale du Canada
201-1505 av. Laperriere Ave.
Ottawa, ON K1Z 7T1
ATTENTION: NLC 125th TIME CAPSULE
Alternate options for drop off at that address on Tuesday or Wednesday can be arranged by contacting Jamie at [email protected] or (613) 863-1874 (cell)
- A drop off manned by the Ottawa Branch Council at the circle in front of HMCS Carleton (or the parking lot at the back) from 1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 15 and Sunday Nov. 22.
COVID-19 PHM measures are to be respected. Face masks are to be worn and social distancing is required. Contributions should be in a suitable individual package to ensure safekeeping.
We hope you will join us in commemorating this milestone in Navy League of Canada history, and we look forward to receiving your thoughtful contributions!
