The NLC will celebrate 125 years of service to
Canada through 2020!
The Branch remains quite busy. The end of the year a number of governance and reporting deadlines to be met. But we are off to a great start, and our two corps are fully engaged in their Winter and Spring programs!
In addition to supporting the Corps' activities throughout the season, Council will meet monthly to progress necessary business. Those are elaborated on in better measure in the Records of Discussion on the Council Meetings page under "Members". The Spring is a hectic time as the corps complete this year's in-unit training and prepare for the regional and provincial competitions prior to the Annual Reviews. Our busiest time for fundraising as well - the two intended TAG days take much planning to set-up, coordinate and execute effectively. And we are looking to a constructive AGM as we look at our way ahead. The Summer Program will be on us before we know it.
NLCC VADM KINGSMILL fielded a team in all four competitions in the MAGNIFICENT Squadron competition held here at HMCS CARLETON on 22 Feb. While the competition was fierce, they achieved first place in all of them. BZ to the Cadets and Staff of MLCC VADM KINGSMILL! They will be representing our Region in the Provincial competitions at HMCS YORK (Toronto) in March.
An enjoyable Council Meet & Greet with the parents and guardians of RCSCC FALKLAND took place on 4 March. It was quite informative for all, and we gained three new Council members! Their support will go a long way to addressing some of the critical gaps in our governance capacity, and is very much appreciated. There are still a number of vacancies in our organization, and the need for Council members remains urgent, especially in the lead up to our AGM in the Spring. A similar Meet & Greet, centered on the Parents and Guardians of NLCC VADM KINGSMILL, will be held in the Fall.
